Tarmac in the community

Supporting Local Projects

We believe in giving back to our neighbouring communities, which is why we have supported a range of local projects over the years including:

  • Replacing a railway footbridge at Whisby Nature Park to improve public access
  • Donating a fuel tank to Eagle Village Church after a theft left them without heating
  • Creating the Ladybird Trail – a popular public path that links restored lagoons to Eagle Road and became a valued local route during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Restoring a local lake for use by the Parish Council

Landfill Communities Fund

Did you know that there are opportunities for community funding from Tarmac? We can support local projects with funding the Landfill Communities Fund, which was established by the government in 1996. It enables operators to donate part of their annual tax liability to enrolled Environmental Bodies for a variety of approved community and environmental projects. Whilst Tarmac does not operate a landfill at Whisby, quarries qualify under the scheme and we have donated to projects such as the Whisby Nature Park through the fund. Keeping in touch with the community

We’re committed to keeping in touch with local residents and stakeholders. We’ve previously held Quarry Liaison Group meetings as a regular touchpoint with community representatives, which we are looking to restart this year. Membership usually involves local county, district and parish councillors and other local representatives and they offer a regular forum for updates and feedback.

In addition, we’re always happy to speak with residents directly – whether by phone or by email.
