Future Plans

We recently consulted with local residents on proposals for a southern extension to Whisby Quarry, known as the Eagle Hall extension. With existing reserves expected to run out by the end of 2029, this extension would allow the quarry to continue supplying sand and gravel for approximately 15 to 20 more years.

About the proposed extension

• The proposed extension covers around 91 hectares of land to the south of the current site.
• It would be worked in five phases, with each area restored once extraction is finished so that only a limited part of the land is in use at any one time.
• The restoration plans include new waterbodies, reedbeds, grassland, woodland and areas of agricultural land, helping to increase biodiversity and create a landscape that can be enjoyed long after quarrying has ended.
• The existing plant site and access road would be retained, meaning no new entrance is required and HGV movement restrictions would remain in place.
• Sand and gravel would be moved by an extended conveyor system across the site to the plant.

Alongside the main planning application, three linked Section 73 applications will be submitted to update existing restoration plans at the quarry and to integrate the current site with the proposed extension.
